Override Computed Values

You can manually specify a component’s associated values, overriding the values computed by aP Pro using the component’s geometric cost drivers (GCDs), non-geometric cost drivers such as selected routings, production volume, properties from the CAD file, and Digital Factory data.

This is useful to customize cost-related factors. For example, you can:

  • Enter a known cost for purchased hardware that aP Pro does not estimate, enabling these costs to be rolled up to a parent assembly.

  • Override the aP Pro labor rate data to better match the labor rates quoted by a supplier for quote validation purposes.

The Cost Overrides Summary dialog provides a summary of the various overrides and user inputs that are in effect. See Cost overrides summary dialog.

Types of Override

aP Pro provides these types of computed-value override:

  • Part details overrides values, from the Part Details or Assembly Details tab. See Part Details Overrides.

  • Cost summary overrides, from the Cost Summary tab. See Total cost summary overrides.

  • Bulk costing overrides: When the Manually Costed checkbox is selected, you can enter a value into the Piece Part Cost column. Once the bulk costing is complete, this value will be stored in the scenario’s Piece Part Cost field.

Note: Cost Overrides in the Part Details, Assembly Details, and Roll-up views do not automatically activate a recost when One Click Costing is enabled. However, any Cost Overrides entered in the Cost Summary tab cause an immediate recosting, regardless of the One Click Costing setting.
